ACROSS THE DESK
By Robin Noll

Another issue is put to bed and we’ll be out by June 28th. There are also a few issues I need to clarify about the Pennsylvania Musician; contrary to what some believe, we will be out the day we’re printed. Years ago, and I’m talking about 15 years here, we we’re slow in getting the paper distributed but it hasn’t been that way since I took over delivery along with my select crew who understand the importance of getting the Pennsylvania Musician to our readers who depend on our pages to plan they’re ‘live” music adventures. It doesn’t do any good to print a paper if you don’t get it out to the masses. With all the schedules and information it is imperative that it is delivered in a timely fashion. I know at times there are a few out of the way places that it takes longer to get to but the majority of our locations have them within a few days of being printed. The delivery gets better all the time. Also there are people who say they will deliver it and offer to do so for free but then their real jobs and life in general tie them up. But we do try to keep on top of it.
An issue to address are the FREE Classifieds. They are Free but you do need to submit them by the 20th. After the 20th they might get in or they might not. Anything after the 25th usually has to wait until the following month. Just an F.Y.I. to those wondering why their classified didn’t get posted, after all they sent it to us by the 30th of the month. We do try to accomodate as many people as we can with a flexible deadline but it has to be within reason. I’m a procrastinator myself so I understand the problem. It’s not easy. There’s always so much to do and so little time.
Knotfal along with five other bands were going to have a festival on Saturday, July 21st called the Grounds of Sound Festival. Unfortunately they were promoting it so well that the authorities  got a hold of them and said they couldn’t do it.  Seems like there are zoning laws and such. Oh well, live and learn, even though they aren’t having it July 21st as planned they will  have it next year or later on this year. They’re not quite sure but we’ll keep you posted. ( NO GROUNDS OF SOUND FESTIVAL, SORRY.) We print the second section first and he didn’t know about it until after it was printed.
If you’re planning to go check out RealBeEasys this month or anytime soon  cut our their ad and take it to their show for a free CD. I never knew of a band to utilize coupons before but that’s a good idea and a great way to get their music out there.
The Allentown Fuzetival is happening again this year on Saturday, July 28th. Over 100 Acts will be performing in one day. Tickets are just $15 but it’s going to be worth it. You can go to the website www.myspace.com/fuzetival to see the whole list of performers. It is an all original show. So if you’re into discovering new sounds and meeting musicians head to Allentown on July 28th. Last year was bigger than expected so they’re wanting an even better turnout this year. The event is being put on by the musicians themselves and will benefit the Allentown Fire Department. Rachel “Rocks” along with BriAnna will be on hand to check it out, take pictures and sell T-shirts to benefit the Firemen. Should be a fun day. (Raindate will be Sunday, July 29th.
Kev-Fest is happening on Sunday, July 1st. It’s a Cancer Fundraiser to benefit Kevin Snyder. It is happening from 12 noon to 9pm at party Pals at Quickels Grove, York,  rain or shine. Bands giving of their talent and time include: Kirk the Idiot, The Luv Gods, Waitin’ On A Train, Steel, The Blue Vultures and Dave Sansoucie. Bring lawn chairs and blankets in the second section there are directions and ticket information.
If you’re having a benefit and ALL proceeds go for the benefit we will list as many as we can. You do need you to send them to the main office at Rnoll@pamusician.net or you can mail them in. We will list as many as we have room for.
It’s been a crazy month, we did take a much needed break last month and we got to spend a whole week lazy along the Chesapeake Bay and watch the boats and Eagles’ soar by. It was a very relaxing and great vacation. Of course there was a ton of work waiting when we got back and it has been non-stop but hey, that’s why we take vacations.
As usual there is a slew of information in this month’s issue. Rachel “Rocks” took a great cover shot. There are many people who take pictures but Rachel has a definite knack for getting good shots. Enjoy this month’s issue and send us any news or comments to Rnoll@pamusician.net or PO Box 362, Millerstown, PA  17062. Enjoy music “LIVE!”
