Across the Desk

Ah yes, it’s always a great feeling coming to the last piece of the puzzle, especially when we’re in the proper time frame. Spring has sprung and music is happening everywhere throughout the state and beyond. We strive to cover the music in Pennsylvania. Believe me, that’s more than enough to strive for. When one considers all the avenues that professional musicians can utilize to promote their gigs and events we feel honored that over 90 music businesses have decided to use our pages to promote themselves. Thank you to one and all.
The musicians we deal with in our pages are very busy people and very professional. They often work day jobs and then they have to balance family time, band time, and their own personal time. Musicians definitely are not people that spend time in front of a TV. They are way too busy for that, my kind of people. Hats off to all of you that bring us such a variety of music month after month. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your craft.
Teresa and Rich of Rogue Stork Entertainment are once again spreading the love. The Ronald McDonald House is expanding to accommodate more families of children in the hospital. Last year hundreds of families were unable to stay near their children because the house was full. The fact that the families stay at the Ronald McDonald House free of charge is merely one benefit of the program. Parents and family members gain support of the caring staff, are able to stay near their children, and the kids are comforted knowing that their families are close by. The event to Benefit the expansion program is being called , Rockin’ for Ronald and will happen at Shakey’s in Hershey on Saturday, May 17th. Numerous musicians are once again donating their time and talents for this great cause. The bands include: Knotfal, Back In Black, Luv Gods, Emily’s Toy Box, Random Allies, Friction Broadcast, Union X, Fith, Adrian Blitzer, Negative Space and Smooth Like Clyde. Plus numerous acoustic acts will be performing outside. Check out the ad in the second section for all the details. Teresa says it’s going to be huge. Well it has to be if we’re going to make a dent in the building fund. It’s a Rogue Stork event so you know it’s going to be fun for the whole family. 105.7 The X will be there all day and are another great company that supports a multitude of benefits.
I want to thank Steve Krempasky from the Whitaker Center for lunch and also for bringing in the Witches In Bikinis on Saturday, August 23rd! It is going to be a great show. I can hardly wait. I couldn’t believe it when he called and asked if we wanted to help him bring them in (not that he needed my help) but we are very pleased to join forces with the Whitaker Center and get The Witches on a stage so we can enjoy a full production. Steve said he had been looking into getting them in and then when he read my reviw of their show it helped him to go through with his plan. It just goes to show how important it is to create a positive buzz when you have the opportunity to go into a new area. The Witches In Bikinis have participated in about 2 or 3 Millenium Music Conferences. Each time they did a blitz of advertising and really built up their show. Then they have the talent to back up the talk. Opportunities are bound to happen when you do all yur homework and one has the talent to back up that promotion. They are working on new material and we are actually going to have a beach party. So mark your calendars and get your seats early to get good ones.
Let’s see what else is happening. Tubby’s is getting new owners. Joe will still help them out for awhile but he decided it was too good of an offer to ignore. Like they say, every business if for sale for the right price. There is going to be a big party May 2nd at Tubby’s. So come out and meet the new owners. I plan on being there if I’m not out delivering too late. Tubby’s has a great line up for the month of May. Pub Rally will be opening the live entertainment on May 3rd. I’m anxious to see if they got any of their hand instruments back to share with the crowd that is sure to be at Tubby’s on Friday. I have a busy day that day but hopefully I can make the gig. You can bring your own instruments.
I want to thank all of you who must have read my article last month and responded right away to the email; Are you IN
or are you OUT! It really helped with the design and also helped to get done in a timely fashion. Of course you always have your few who leave you sit but for the most part everyone pretty much does what they say they’re going to do.
I do have to thank Whitey, ‘the mighty’ for putting up with me day after day. He gets kind of neglected when I’m working on the paper and I don’t know how many times I tell him. “I have to work, you have to leave me alone now.” But he still loves me. June 10th we’ll be together for 36 years! Wow, I can honestly say being married to Whitey I have never had a boring day in our whole married life. I love you honey. Thanks. That’s it. I’m out of room again. Thank you to all who read and utilize our pages. We sure do appreciate you! Have a great and glorious month. God is so good to us.
