Happy Anniversary Pennsylvania Musician Magazine!  Twenty five years...WOW! That means I’ve been here now writing twenty four of those years! A lot has come full circle in these years. Out first cover issues had Kix, Harpo, Hybrid Ice and Paris (Poison). All these bands are still together and playing either reunions or part time. We’ve seen others like Live, The Badlees, Fuel and Breaking Benjamin put Central Pa into national attention. B.B. never made our cover, they got real big, real quick. Lzzy and Arejay Hale of Halestorm grew up too fast for me; I always liked working with those youngsters. There are so many bands, so many stories and we at the Pennsylvania Musician tried to cover most of it. We have a wealth of musical talent here in Central PA and I’m sure to see and hear more PA musicians going “national”. But remember it’s you fans out there who keep these PA musicians going for more and we all live for that. Long live rock ‘n’ roll and live music!
Club 101 in Northumberland is a case in point to see our local live talent. Always a “full plate” here. If you missed out on Halloween last month you can start November with “The Day of the Dead” at Club 101. Willie Jack and the Northern Light will be on stage 10pm to 1am. Prizes for the best costume will be awarded. Check that out.
Nick and Nate from The Drama Club return to Club 101 November 7th and November 29th. Drama Club has a new CD out and it is hitting the Northeast with great success. Keep an eye on Drama Club to be the next big thing.
A 101 note, the only Open Mic night will be November 28th hosted by Kallie Milgram 8pm til?. Club 101 is a place to check out our PA musicians here in the valley.
Sorb’s Place in Liverpool has a “hot” Thanksgiving weekend planned with Funny Money November 24th. A full night of Kix tunes and new Funny Money music from their new CD “Skin to Skin” will be heard that night. Remember only about 200 tickets will be sold so get yours now. $12 in advance $15 day of show. The show starts at 9:30pm with those heavy metal mothers LeadFoot  opening.
Speaking of 80’s metal bands Hair Force One lands at Tubby’s in Duncannon November 10th. The look, the hair, the music of the 80’s done to a “T” by these guys. Get ready to “bang your head” at Tubby’s that night.
Moving on to more metal music, Steel comes to Tubby’s November 17th. Searing guitars, screaming vocals, thunderous drums, you’ve got it with Steel. They are heavy, no pun intended. Zero Gravity will open the night with music from down the years, rock on! Don’t forget those pretty boys, Dingleberry Shortcake, Thanksgiving Eve starting at 9:30, crave the music.
I caught my Halloween scare when I saw “the Witch”, White Witch that is. Flying into The Ritz Theatre in Muncy White Witch gave an all age show to highlight  their new CD, “Never Dies the Dream”. Jeff and the guys gave it their all with new and old White Witch music from the years and some Ozzy, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest thrown in. After a hot set the guys met the fans then had to fly off to Altoona where their next show was. I hope Jim Price caught “The Witch” in his area when they landed. Keep a look out for a DVD of that show. Keep in touch with White Witch at www.myspace.com/whitewitchrocks.
Speaking of scary things, the Uptown Music Collective of Williamsport will pay tribute in “A Night with the Living Dead” at the Scottish Rite auditorium  on Market Street in Williamsport. Music starts at 7pm November 2nd. Music from musicians who are no longer with us is the focus of the Collectives music students. Music by Elvis, Allman Brothers, Warren Zevon, Nirvana plus more will put you n a spell. Dress up as your favorite dead rock star and bring the family. A scary time will be had by all!
Music Notes: Steve O’Hanlon has contacted Rock Therapy and hopes to return in the New year. We’ll be ready for that, what a vocalist! Given are playing Maggie Maloney’s in downtown Sunbury November 10th. I’ve not heard them since Fiddlestyx days, let’s check them out.  Hybrid Ice are in pre-production of a new CD, their third. Meantime you can catch them live at the Tourist Inn in Hellam, November 17th. They will play hometown at Washies Fire Co. in Danville November 21st. Limited tickets for that show. The Loons will play On The Rocks outside Berwick November 16th, some acoustic Loon gigs will also take place this month at some area pubs.
Davy Jones formerly of  The Monkees will play the Front Street Station December 1st. Also limited tickets to this show in Northumberland.
The Suicide Puppets are in their glory as they share the stage with The Misfits for Halloween. Local band does good! Also the Suicide Puppets have been nominated as “Best Metal Band” in Central PA. Check out www.hbgonline.com to get details of the awards show. Meantime catch them live at Rumor’s in Enola, November 17th.
Come one, come all to our Pennsylvania Musician 25th Anniversary Party Friday, November 9th at Gullifty’s in New Cumberland. Music by Whitey Noll, X-Terra, Drop of Grey, Asking Andy and YOU ( if you’re a musician and want to join in for the “Midnight til they kick us out Jam session”).
